Murphy's 8th Inning Walk-Off Homer Gives Windham Jaguars Victory Over Merrimack
The Jaguars scratched out their programs 100th victory in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 8th inning to topple Merrimack. The Jags were down 8-7 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Lindsey Murphy homered on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
Windham built a four-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off Merrimack's charge.
Merrimack managed five runs in the failed comeback. Ashlynn Cassetty, Erin Knauer, Grace Lawton, and Demetria Gonzalez each picked up RBIs.
The Jags got on the board in the first inning. Larissa Piessens drove in two when she homered.
Merrimack evened things up at seven in the top of the seventh inning when Lawton doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Windham put up four runs in the fourth inning. The Jaguars' big bats in the inning were led by a single by Piessens, an error on a ball put in play by Peyton Gravell, and a double by Grace Bono.
Merrimack scored three runs in the sixth inning. Merrimack's big inning was driven by a triple by Cassetty and a fielder's choice by Knauer.
Abby Bedient was in the circle for Jags lasting eight innings, allowing 13 hits and eight runs while striking out 11 and walking zero.
Windham tallied two home runs on the day. Murphy had a four bagger in the eighth inning. Piessens had a long ball in the first inning.
